PAMECA V implemented an online training on “Organised crime and criminal corruption; risks from corruption phenomenon in Police”. It took place on April 20th and was attended by 18 students of the Faculty of Security and Investigation, Security Academy.
The training program focused on key aspects related to corruption phenomenon, by providing a scientific and operational analysis of it. It started with an overview of corruption phenomenon and its forms, causes, consequences and measures to prevent corruption, followed by unethical police behavior, the link between corruption and organized crime and corruption risk management in police structures. In addition, emphasis was put on the resolution of the European Code of Police Ethics and a brief overview on SPAK, as the newly established structure to fight corruption, and on Albanian legal norms related to police ethics, was provided to the third-year students who benefited from this online training. Furthermore, PAMECA V international expert shared several concrete cases of police corruption prosecuted in Italy. In the end, students filled in a questionnaire on “Measures to be taken to curb corruption in the Albanian police”.
This training activity aimed at enhancing beneficiaries’ capacities by getting more in-depth knowledge on corruption phenomenon and anti-corruption Albanian law enforcement structures, identifying and avoiding unethical conduct and corruption prone behaviors within police structures and understanding the potential impacts it has in their work and how to mitigate and prevent it.
