With the assistance of PAMECA IV, from the 31st of August to 11th of September 11 Traffic Police Officers attended a training course in Cesena, Italy.
The training was organised by LTE on Traffic Police, Angelo Tancredi under the activity 4.2 “Support to further enhance the consistent enforcement of traffic laws in Albania through authoritative intervention by Traffic Police”. This was a ‘Train the trainer” course in different topics about operational techniques, police duties and methodologies to be able to conduct a proper investigation of road accidents.
During these 11 days, the Albanian police officers amongst others, they also had the opportunity to learn on methodologies and procedures of proffesional driving licences dedicated to police officers which they aim to implement in Albania not only for traffic police employees, but for police employees in general. Of a particular importance was also the concept of a Center for Traffic Police where traffic police in Italy are trained continously and are specialized in various areas. It was discussed how important and helpful it would be to have a similar Center in Albania which would be dedicated to Traffic Police for trainings and proffessional coursed in various areas in the relevant areas.
It was also discussed during this training how to identify false driving documents, in particular driving licences and driving permits. In order to combine theory with practice the participants had the opportunity to visit the Highway Operation Center of Bologna which is in charge of all traffic police patrols in the region and also the section of Modena which a logistic and operational units. It was really helpful to see in practice how an operational unit of traffic police is organised.
At the end of the training the participants were provided with certificates delivered to them by the Director of CAPS Cesena. For this occassion also the Director of Traffic Police of Albania, Mr. Mithat Tola was present where he also discussed other activities in the future such as exhange of programs and other forms of cooperation, accordingly.
