ASSESSMENT OF THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE 112 EMERGENCY CALL HANDLING SYSTEM

In the framework of Activity 4.8.2 “Enhance the Central Service and Support the ASP-IT in Enlarging the Capacity”, PAMECA V recruited and deployed a Short-Term Expert on a mission to inspect and assess the current status of the Emergency Call and Communication System (ECCS), otherwise known as “Unified 112 Number” implemented with support of PAMECA IV Project, and to recommend further steps for the system roll-out, after ensuring that the current system in operation in Tirana is consolidated and fully reliable.

The visit took place only a few days after a busy period for the Emergency Call Handling staff, as a result of the serious problems caused by flooding in various regions of the country, which created an unusual load of emergency calls made by the public, about 20.000 calls within a short period of time.
