Giorgio Butini
Team Leader

Colonel of the Italian State Police with 24 years of active service.
Police Advisor at the Office of the EUSR/ EU Commission Delegation in Skopje, co-author of a Manual on International Police Missions, trainer at the European Police Academy (CEPOL) for 7 years.
Graduated in Law at the University of Padua, he holds two masters, one of which is in European Union Policy, Economy and Rights. His international career dates back to 2001 when he joined the UN Mission in Kosovo where he served for more than one year as Deputy Regional Commander in Pec/Peja Region. In 2003 he went to Brussels as Police Expert during the Italian Presidency of the European Union. In October 2003 he was part of the Planning Team in Brussels and Skopje to launch Proxima where he served for two years first as Central Coordinator and then as Deputy Head of Programme Department. He has been Police Advisor at the Office of the EUSR/ EU Commission Delegation in Skopje. Co-author of a manual on International Police Missions he has been trainer at the European Police Academy (Cepol) for 7 years. From December 2009 untill February 2012 he was deployed in Rome at the Ministry of Interior-International Relations Service in charge of EU police cooperation with special focus on Western Balkans holding i.a. the position of Head of the Italian delegation to the Law Enforcement Working Party of the EU Council Secretariat. In 2011 he moved to the Criminal Police Central Directorate in Rome from where he was posted in Pristina at the Italian Embassy as Police Attache’. His national career has developed in the following fields: patrol units and operational rooms, crowd control, personnel-related areas, i.a training planning, internal control, administration.
