From 28 September to 2 October PAMECA participated in a basic training course for new border police officers, which was held in the Security Academy. Participants were 21 employees of the Border and Migration Police who previously had completed the 22-weeks basic police-education “for general patrol” and who were then nominated as employees of the Border and Migration Police. During the lectures PAMECA gave an insight view into the structures on European level – the European Commission, the Council and the Parliament. Other topics were also an in-depth discussion on Integrated Border Management, about the central legislation for border management – the Schengen Borders Code, a comparison of the EU-Acquis in this field with the current Albanian legislation and the role of the FRONTEX. Intensive discussions finally also arouse around the current migration-crisis, the origin, the current situational pictures and possible measures to improve the situation.
The participants proved to be very active and alert, showed great interest and participated in the various discussions with great enthusiasm.
