PAMECA V organized a series of meetings at the central level of the Albanian State Police, the Local Police Department of Tirana, First-Line Community Policing offices and Schools for the preparation of the assessment Report on the First School – Social Service – Police pilot model set in Tirana establishing a multi-level structure in the field of Community Policing.
Meetings were held by the Long-term Expert on Anti-terrorism of PAMECA V and the Short-term Expert recruited on Community Policing, Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalization. The overall purpose of these meetings was to assess the School-Social Service-Police model in place and its functioning in practice. Meetings at the central level, namely the Director of the Public Security Department, Director of the Public Order Directorate and the Chief of Community Policing Sector, highlighted the importance of including Community Policing in national strategy plan.
More specifically, in the visited Police Commissariats, introductory meetings were held with Chiefs of Police Commissariats no 2 and 3, and Chief of Community Policing Sections in order to gather information on working methods on the territorial divisions. First line police officers of Community Policing and School Directors and teachers were met in school premises, and the pilot project was discussed in very concrete terms based on the police zones as per the division of two central Police Stations in Tirana. Functioning and structure were discussed in detail and further needs were taken into analysis for further support and extension of such model to other cities in Albania.
