Roma Forum – State Police Western Balkan countries

The Forum of senior managers of State Police of Western Balkan countries is an annual event that takes place since 2013. This year the activity was hosted by the Italian Ministry of Interior in the premises of Scuola Superiore di Polizia on the 13th of December 2017.

The focus of this meeting was to further discuss the strengthening of cooperation among Balkan Police Authorities in order to better manage the recent trends of criminality. Particular attention was given to the most widespread forms of crime, suchlike terrorism, trafficking of human beings, migration and organized crime. The developing and application of joint preventive measures was highlighted during the meeting in addition to the operational cooperation.

Mr. Carlo D’Achille, in his capacity as PAMECA V Team Leader was invited to attend this Forum.

Delegations from Balkan countries, respectively Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Greece, Hungary, Moldavia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia actively attended the Forum by introducing their national experience and approach in view of preventing and fighting criminality.

Representatives of INTERPOLL, EUROPOL, FRONTEX, and SELEC participated in this activity and presented their contribution and cooperation with all Western Balkan countries attending the Forum.

The opening remarks were conveyed by the Head of Italian State Police Mr. Franco Gabrielli who further encouraged the participating countries and international organization to strengthen their coordination in the fight against criminality.

Closing the forum, the Head of Italian State Police Mr. Gabrielli has also mentioned PAMECA and other EU projects contribution for the support of Regional Law Enforcement Agencies.
