A group of journalists from EU member states visited the Tirana RPD operational room as part of their trip to Albania to showcase the impact of IPA-funded programmes mainly in the rule of law area.
With the investment from the EU and technical and financial support by the PAMECA IV project, the 112 unified emergency call handling system was successfully installed last year in Tirana as a pilot project in a completely renovated state-of-the-art operational room, also supported by PAMECA IV. The successful operation of 112 in Tirana inspired the decision of the Albanian relevant authorities to continue the expansion of 112 in other regions of the country as well. PAMECA IV is currently involved in the expansion of this service in Durres and has worked with the ASP on a roll out plan which will be executed in the coming months with the assistance of the upcoming PAMECA V project.
The Tirana RPD Director, Mr. Hodaj informed the journalists on the functioning of the 112 as well as the other integrated ITC services of the operational room such as CCTV cameras, body cameras and digital commissariat. He commended the precious assistance of PAMECA IV in all the steps of such technological developments.
