On the 17th of March 2018, PAMECA V IBM/LTE accompanied the Deputy General Director -also acting Director of Border and Migration Department Hajnaj- and a member of BM Department staff to a one day work-visit to Kosovo’s National Centre for Border Management (NCBM). The visit organised and supported by PAMECA V under sub-activity 3.5.2 of the project’s workplan, served to familiarise the Albanian BMP team with a functioning National Coordination Centre and to learn about good practices in managing real time information flow.
In the meeting and briefings with Kosovan counterparts the Albanian BMP officials exchanged points of views on future cooperation between the Albanian NCC expected to be established soon and the Kosovo’s NCBM. Both parties also discussed the planned Joint Control Room (JCR) at the shared BCP Morine –Vermice, to be used by police and customs of both countries.
PAMECA V has suggested that JCR should be connected to the NCBM in Pristina and the General Directorate of the Police in Tirana and/or in the future to the planed NCC for IBM in Tirana. As the Albanian team could observe, Kosovo’s NCC have live feed to their BCP in Vermice.
The establishment of NCC for IBM is one of the objectives of the Albanian National Strategy on Integrated Border Management and its Action Plan 2014-2020.
