Exchange Visits to the Road Traffic Monitoring Centre of Tirana Municipality and the Albanian State Police Operational
Component IV / Information and Communication Technology (ICT) staff, on 9th October 2017, conducted Exchange Visits to the Road Traffic Monitoring Centre of Tirana Municipality and the Albanian State Police Operational (112) Room at Tirana Local Police Directorate.
The first visit to the Traffic Monitoring Centre of Tirana Municipality allowed the Long-Term Expert and other participating PAMECA V staff to familiarise themselves with the systems operating in this centre, the functionality of the cameras monitoring the road traffic in main intersections in Tirana and the areas for improvement and the potential for coordination with the State Police monitoring systems.
In the second visit, to the Operational Room in Tirana Local Police Directorate, the Head of the Road Traffic Monitoring Room of Tirana Municipality had the opportunity to observe for the first time and understand the systems in operation at this centre. The LTE explained aspects on the investment and implementation by the Project in terms of the Unified 112 Emergency Call Handling and the infrastructure of the centre. He gave a thorough description of how the hardware and software operates, and the future plans for improving the service of this centre to the police structures and, more importantly, to the public.
In conclusion of the visit, a meeting was held with the Deputy Director of Tirana Local Police Directorate, where the main topics of discussion were the extra measures of installing security cameras and the improvement of coordination between the relevant institutions.
