In the framework of PAMECA IV Work Plan and in particular of Activity 2.7, which provides for developing further corruption analysis and internal cooperation and coordination among relevant institutions, PAMECA IV organised the Workshop “On the Best EU Practice and Experience in the investigation and prosecution of corruption offences”. The Workshop was held on 28th and 29th of May 2015, at the premises of Serious Crime Prosecution Office with the participation of judges, prosecutors and representatives of Albanian State Police. Two Italian prosecutors from Prosecutor’s Office of Rome Mr. Francesco Minisci and Mr. Alberto Pioletti introduced two cases investigated and prosecuted by them on corruption within judiciary and public administration.
Mr. Sandër Simoni, Chief Judge of First Instance Court for Serious Crime was focused on the notion of “high state official” and “employees of judicial bodies” in the Albanian Criminal Code.
Mr. Gentian Osmani, Head of Section on Corruption and Assets Investigation at Serious Crime Prosecution Office, made an introduction on prosecution of corruption offences in Albania and on procedural problems encountered during the investigation and prosecution of this category of offences.
The Workshop served to exchange views and practical experience with Albanian counterparts concerning the prosecution of corruption offences, followed by a professional and interactive technical discussion.
