In the framework of the Activity 5.4., “Assessment of the infrastructure and the technical equipment for border control at the air, land and sea border and at the IMOC with a view to further enhance border surveillance at the blue border”, PAMECA IV organized the second workshop for the IMOC (Interinstitutional Maritime Operational Centre) regarding the development of the Ship Database. The database should help the IMOC and other institutions to register the vessels and to exchange information about the vessels in real time. Following the results of the fact-finding mission in July, the STE developed a draft design which he presented to the IMOC representatives in order to get feedback, but more importantly to collect key requirements which are the baseline for developing a proper database meeting the needs of all institutions involved at IMOC and beyond. This exercise was preceded by a presentation which helped the participants to shape their ideas and translate them into requirements. Additionally, the STE carried out practical exercises (in group work) to provide a better understanding on the specific needs and on how to prioritize goals and non-goals in this database.
