Support to the Ministry of Interior on preparing the Integrity Plan
Addressing corruption in law enforcement agencies, is indispensable to build a solid institution and enhance public trust in law enforcement agencies. Strengthening the capacities of law enforcement institutions to challenge and resist corruption is one of the key tools to effectively combat corruption. A solid understanding of the various manifestations of corruption is fundamental to tailor a proper anti-corruption approach. In this view, PAMECA V in close cooperation with DCAF (Geneva Centre for Security Sector and Governance) organised the 2nd training workshop for the members of the Working Group that is tasked to prepare the Integrity Plan and Action Plan for Ministry of Interior.
The training was attended by about 20 representatives of 11 subordinated structures/institutions of Ministry of Interior who had the opportunity to broadly discuss on the most exposed corruption risks that tackle each institution. Mr. Giovanni Pasqua, PAMECA LTE on OC and Mr. Paulo Costa, Head of Police Program, DCAF, highlighted the importance of this process, identification of corruption risks, as the main milestone in having a useful and well-structured Integrity Plan for the Ministry of Interior.
Both PAMECA V and DCAF will provide additional trainings to the members of the Working Group on the methodologies and techniques to assess corruption risks according to international best practices and standards.
