Training of SPO Prosecutors in Rome, Italy
Prosecutors from the Special Prosecution Office in Albania attended a training on investigation techniques organised by PAMECA V in Rome, Italy at the Antiamafia Investigative Department (DIA – Direzione Investigativa Antimafia), the National Antimafia and Antiterrorism Department (DNAA – Direzione Nazionale Antimafia e Antiterrorismo) and specialised units of the Italian State Police and Carabinieri. Albanian SPO prosecutors first met in a welcoming round table with the Deputy General Director of Public Security, Central Directorate of Criminal Police, Prefect Vittorio Rizzi and of the Director of Anti-Mafia Investigative Department (DIA), Mr. Maurizio Vallone, and the Director of International Police Cooperation Service, Mr. Fabio Cairo. On this first meeting representatives from the Italian State Police and SPO Prosecutors had the opportunity to introduce mutual matters of interest and express a great appreciation on the cooperation achieved in past and recent times. The training on investigation techniques offered in-depth expertise in various cybercrime investigation structures, technical operational sectors, and forensic services of the Italian State Police and Carabinieri. Extensive attention was given to investigative techniques and their probative value in trials. During the training and the meetings held, the prosecutors had the opportunity to exchange information and best practices with the prosecutors of the DNAA following the speech of the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor, Mr.Federico Cafiero de Raho, who expressed the DNAA’s utmost willingness to support the work of the Joint Investigation Teams between Italy and Albania (and any other possible countries/partners) as a highly effective tool that has proven to be successful since the first teams were set up. On this occasion, the exchange concerned the information exchange channels via mutual assistance in the judicial field and JIT channels as well as the probative value of the pieces of evidence in national courts.
