From 12 – 16 October, an assessment mission was conducted to the Closed Centre in Karrec. Also visited in this context were the Open Centre Babbru and premises at the BCP Airport Rinas. Main target was the current situation at the centre in Karrec and an assessment, which improvements would need to be made in order to bring the infrastructure, where shortcomings were detected, fully in line with EU- and international standards. Also assessed were the links between the centre in Karrec, the Open Centre Babbru and premises at the BCP Airport Rinas with a view of finding possible synergies and in general improve and enhance cooperation. Also taken on board were training-needs and possible improvements though liaising with other centres in other countries (EU- and Nonb-EU). At the end the provisional findings were presented to the Director of the centre and the General Director for Border and Migration. A detailed mission report is currently being elaborated and wil then follow afterwards.
